BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) manages complex, high-consequence nuclear and national security operations, including nuclear production facilities.

BWXT is a premier manager of complex, high-consequence nuclear and national security operations for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia, BWXT manages and operates large manufacturing or site closure contracts for the U.S. government, facilitates laboratory services and manages technical services.

Nuclear and high-consequence facility management capabilities include:

  • Management of operations that include manufacturing, assembly, refurbishment, dismantlement, processing hazardous material, control/storage and inventory, and disposition of nuclear material
  • Management of multiple geographically dispersed sites, functions, and projects requiring interface operationally as part of a larger execution strategy
  • Ensuring manufacturability requirements of general plant infrastructure and high-hazard nuclear facilities

Through involvement with DOE environmental management projects, BWXT is making significant contributions to a cleaner environment by removing legacy materials remaining at sites that previously housed high-consequence operations primarily during the Cold War era.

BWXT applies the knowledge and expertise gained over more than 30 years of providing decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) services to the U.S. government to treat, store and dispose of high-consequence waste and perform facility closures. This work is performed while staying on the cutting edge of technologies and best practices to increase safety, security and cost efficiency while driving a strong nuclear safety culture.
