Suzy Sterner is the senior vice president and chief corporate affairs officer for BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT). She is responsible for developing and executing strategic engagement with federal and state governments and trade associations. In addition to government relations, she also leads corporate communications and public relations as well as the company’s community relations and environmental, social, and governance initiatives aligning strategic priorities to promote and enhance the corporate brand.

Ms. Sterner has more than 30 years of leadership experience in various industries, including public affairs, space, defense and aviation. Before joining BWXT, she served as a senior director of congressional relations for Northrop Grumman. Prior to that, she held executive roles of increasing responsibility in government relations. Her experience also includes marketing, communications, public relations and non-profit management.

Ms. Sterner earned a bachelor’s degree in international politics and economics from Middlebury College and a master’s degree in management with a specialization in not-for-profit programs from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She also completed executive leadership programs at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She is a founding member of the Washington, D.C. chapter of CHIEF, and a current member and past president of both Women in Aerospace and the National Space Club. She is also a musician with the National Concert Band of America and an avid musical theater enthusiast.
