Suzy Sterner is the senior vice president and chief corporate affairs officer for BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT). She directs BWXT’s corporate Washington presence, leading strategic engagement with federal and state governments and trade associations.
In addition to government relations, Ms. Sterner leads corporate communications and public relations, as well as the company’s community relations and environmental, social, and governance initiatives.

She brings more than 30 years of corporate affairs and government relations experience to her role at BWXT in order to drive corporate strategy and stakeholder relationship development. Before joining BWXT, she served as a senior director of congressional relations for Northrop Grumman, where she advised the company’s executive leadership across all federal government engagement activities. As vice president of government affairs at SAIC, she led advocacy on behalf of corporate programs for Air Force, intelligence and NASA customers, as well as the Departments of Transportation/FAA, Commerce, and Energy. Prior to this, Ms. Sterner held senior executive government relations roles at global aerospace and defense companies Exelis, Aerojet and Arianespace; as well as external affairs leadership roles at TheWadeGroup and Parabon Computation. Her experience also includes marketing, communications, public relations and non-profit management.

Ms. Sterner earned a bachelor’s degree in international politics and economics from Middlebury College and a master’s degree in management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She has also completed executive leadership programs at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

A founding member of the Washington, D.C. chapter of CHIEF, Ms. Sterner is also a current member and past president of both Women in Aerospace and the National Space Club. She is a musician with the National Concert Band of America and an avid musical theater enthusiast.
