B&W Wins Cleanup Contract for Department of Energy Site in Ohio

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC), through its subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc. (B&W TSG), announced that the Fluor-B&W Portsmouth, LLC team has been awarded the decontamination and decommissioning contract at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Ohio. The contract has an estimated value of approximately $2.1 billion over a 10-year period, which includes an initial five-year period in addition to a potential five-year extension based on performance and government requirements.


Ameren Energy Resources, B&W and Air Liquide selected to negotiate first full-scale coal-fired power plant with CO2

Ameren Energy Resources Company, LLC (AER) - the holding company for merchant generation for Ameren Corporation (NYSE: AEE); The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC); and Air Liquide Process & Construction, Inc. (Air Liquide), have been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) clean coal power program to negotiate the installation of the world's first full-scale oxy-coal-fired power plant that includes permanent carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS).

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced that the spinoff from McDermott International, Inc. (McDermott) (NYSE: MDR) has been completed and that it begins regular way trading on the New York Stock Exchange today. On Friday, July 30, B&W became an independent, publicly owned company when B&W shares were distributed to McDermott International, Inc. stockholders.


B&W to Locate State-of-the-Art Testing Facility in Bedford County, Va.

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) announced today the decision to locate its B&W mPower™ Integrated System Test (IST) facility in Bedford County, Va., at the Center for Advanced Engineering and Research (CAER), currently being constructed at the New London Business & Technology Center. Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy, Inc., (B&W NE) and Bechtel Power Corporation today announced they have entered into a formal alliance to design, license and deploy the world's first commercially viable Generation III++ small modular nuclear power plant. Based on B&W mPower™ small modular reactor (SMR) technology, this new alliance, to be known as Generation mPower, brings together two recognized and established energy industry leaders in engineering, manufacturing and construction. Both Bechtel and B&W are making a substantial commitment in forming Generation mPower. B&W NE is a subsidiary of The Babcock & Wilcox Company.

B&W Signs Definitive Agreement with Toshiba and USEC

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) announced today that its affiliate, Babcock & Wilcox Investment Company, and Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) have signed a definitive agreement to make an investment in USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) over three phases, each of which is subject to satisfaction of specific preconditions, including regulatory approvals. The $200 million investment, shared equally between Toshiba and B&W, will strengthen the deployment of the American Centrifuge Plant and create key new business opportunities throughout the nuclear fuel cycle.


B&W on Winning Team for Paducah Cleanup Contract

The Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded the team of LATA-Stoller-B&W a cleanup contract, valued at approximately $285 million, at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant near Paducah, Kentucky. Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc. (B&W TSG) is a member of the winning team, which was chosen over four other bids for the contract.
