Kurt Bender is senior vice president and chief digital officer for BWXT. He is responsible for the company’s digital platform supporting business operations in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom.

With more than 22 years of experience driving digital transformation across leading aerospace, defense and technology organizations, Mr. Bender has led improvements in enterprise IT strategies, financial performance and service delivery. Before being named BWXT’s senior vice president and chief digital officer, he served as the vice president of IT applications, quality and continuous improvement, advancing Enterprise Resource Planning and Manufacturing Execution System modernization, cybersecurity compliance and establishing governance frameworks in partnership with the business. Prior to joining the company, he held positions of increasing senior leadership at L3Harris Technologies and BAE Systems, where he led IT for the space and intelligence and electronic systems business segments.

Mr. Bender holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering and a Master of Science in technology from Purdue University. He earned his MBA and Ph.D. from Indiana Institute of Technology. He holds multiple industry certifications, including Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional and Agile Certified Practitioner, Six Sigma Black Belt, AWS Solutions Architect, Artificial Intelligence Transformation Leader and Digital Transformation from MIT.

He is a member of the National Defense Industrial Association, Project Management Institute and the Purdue University Industry Advisory Board.
