Kate H. Kelly is president of BWXT Advanced Technologies, a subsidiary of BWXT. She oversees the strategy and execution of the company’s innovative nuclear technologies portfolio for applications in microreactors, nuclear thermal propulsion and fuel.

Ms. Kelly most recently served as director of space and emerging programs and, previous to that, as the advanced nuclear systems program manager within BWXT Advanced Technologies. In her roles, she expertly expanded BWXT’s capabilities in advanced manufacturing and nuclear solutions for space applications, leading to over $250M in secured contract awards. Joining the company in 2012, she also worked in project management, quality control and operational excellence within BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Ms. Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and has Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Project Management Professional® certifications. In 2022, she received the Women in Aerospace Initiative-Inspiration-Impact Award for her contributions to the space nuclear industry and her advocacy to promote people in aerospace.
