BWXT Commercial Operations Names Monifa Miller as Senior Director of Corporate Affairs

13 February 2023

(CAMBRIDGE, ON – February 13, 2023) – BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) has appointed Monifa A. Miller as senior director of corporate affairs for BWXT’s Commercial Operations segment. In this role, she will have full responsibility for all of BWXT’s communications, public affairs, government relations and community outreach activities in Canada.

“Monifa’s extensive experience overseeing communications programs will strengthen BWXT’s role in nuclear power, and we are thrilled to have her on board,” said John MacQuarrie, president of BWXT Commercial Operations.

“We are extremely fortunate to bring such an experienced and talented executive to our team,” said Suzy Sterner, BWXT’s senior vice president and chief corporate affairs officer. “I’m confident that Monifa’s impressive background will add great value to our corporate affairs efforts.”

Miller most recently served as director of communications and stakeholder relations for X-energy Canada, where she was responsible for establishing a multi-province strategy that raised awareness about the benefits of small modular reactors; developed a meaningful Indigenous relations program (which included the launch of an employee Indigenous cultural training program); cultivated strong municipal and provincial relationships to build social licence; and delivered numerous marketing materials. Prior to joining X-energy Canada, Miller was a senior communications advisor for Ontario Power Generation, where she supported the Darlington Refurbishment Project. From 2001 to 2016, Miller held multiple communications leadership and lecturer positions at Seneca College, University of Toronto, and Canadian Chiropractic Association, as well as operating her own public relations firm OnBrand PR.

She holds a master’s degree in communications and culture from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of the West Indies. She is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society, International Association of Business Communicators, and a former member of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Council at the Abilities Centre.
