"B&W has worked hard to establish and maintain the policies, procedures and culture of rigor necessary to meet the high standards of the ASME," said Christofer Mowry, President of Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy, Inc. "These certifications demonstrate B&W's continued commitment to providing products and services of the highest caliber to our customers."
B&W staff at the company's locations in Barberton, Ohio, and Lynchburg, Va., completed the audit necessary to earn the certifications from ASME and the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors in December 2009. The ASME N, NA, NPT, NS and MO Certificates of Authorization, along with the National Board's NR Certificate of Authorization, were formally received in March 2010.
The ASME stamps authorize a company to perform the design, construction and supply of new pressure equipment for both new and existing nuclear power stations. Receipt of the National Board NR Certificate of Authorization enables a company to perform repairs and alterations to existing pressure equipment at nuclear installations.
