B&W and Chem-Mod Sign Environmental Technology License Agreement

22 January 2014

(CHARLOTTE, N.C. – January 22, 2013) – The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced today that its Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc. (B&W PGG) subsidiary and Chem-Mod LLC (Chem-Mod) have signed a ten-year U.S. license agreement allowing Chem-Mod to use B&W PGG’s Mitagent™ combustion additive.

Chem-Mod will use Mitagent in conjunction with its patented coal additive technologies, The Chem-Mod™ Solution, for the reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx), mercury (Hg) and other emissions created during the combustion process. The use of Mitagent is expected to improve the performance of Chem-Mod’s signature coal additive technologies in addition to providing benefits for SCR systems.

“We’re pleased to have an opportunity to work with an outstanding company such as Chem-Mod to deliver advanced environmental solutions to its customers,” said B&W PGG President and Chief Operating Officer J. Randall Data. “B&W PGG’s Mitagent technology, used with The Chem-Mod Solution, offers utilities and industry a powerful option to improve the environmental performance of their plants and comply with stringent emissions regulations.”

”We are happy to be working together with an organization such as B&W PGG,” said Chem-Mod President Sally Wasikowski.  “We believe the improvements that result from adding B&W PGG’s Mitigent additive will significantly improve the potential for Chem-Mod’s technology.”

B&W PGG’s technical support team also will provide Chem-Mod with assistance in the deployment of Mitagent technology.
