(LYNCHBURG, Va. – June 4, 2026) As the United States marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) today announced the start of a month long commemoration celebrating the nation’s Semiquincentennial and the generations of American ingenuity and service that have shaped both the country and the company.

For more than 165 years, BWXT’s history has been intertwined with America’s industrial and technological progress, from its origins in the 19th century innovations of Babcock & Wilcox to its pivotal role powering the U.S. Navy’s nuclear fleet. Today, BWXT’s people, facilities and programs continue to embody the nation’s commitment to freedom, security and forward looking innovation.

“America’s 250th anniversary invites all of us to reflect on the values that have sustained this nation: resilience, creativity and a shared commitment to freedom,” said Rex D. Geveden, BWXT president and chief executive officer. “At BWXT, we are proud to contribute to that story through our support of the nuclear Navy and national security, our longstanding heritage of delivering engineering excellence and the skilled workforce that helps keep our nation secure.”

BWXT traces its origins to Stephen Wilcox’s 1856 water tube boiler patent, the breakthrough that made industrial power safer and more efficient. For decades, Babcock & Wilcox technology fueled the growth of modern America, powering historic milestones such as the first U.S. central electrical station in 1881; New York City’s Pearl Street Station in 1882; and the city’s first subway system in 1902. The company also contributed to major infrastructure achievements, including the Hoover Dam in 1930.

In the decades that followed, BWXT engineers helped usher in the nuclear age, including support for Shippingport, the first full scale U.S. commercial nuclear power plant, and early space and national security programs.

BWXT’s partnership with the U.S. Navy began in the 1950s with components for the USS Nautilus (SSN-571), the world’s first nuclear powered submarine. Since then, reactors and critical components manufactured by BWXT have powered generations of nuclear vessels, including Ohio, Virginia, Seawolf and Los Angeles class submarines, as well as Nimitz and Ford class aircraft carriers. Work is currently underway to support the Navy’s next generation Columbia class ballistic missile submarines.

These vessels, central to maintaining freedom of navigation and global stability, have steamed millions of miles using BWXT manufactured components, demonstrating the company’s decades long commitment to safety, quality and integrity. Facilities across Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee remain at the core of this mission-critical work.

From today through July 4, BWXT will share stories of its history, people and mission as part of its America 250 programming. Content throughout the month will honor the company’s heritage, spotlight employees across multiple sites, and highlight BWXT’s contributions to national defense, advanced nuclear technology and community service.
