ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

BWXT NOG performs some of the most technical and advanced manufacturing operations in the world, consistently meeting close dimensional tolerances and demanding quality requirements.

Our facilities have a combined 3 million square feet of manufacturing space with the following capabilities and equipment:

  • Precision machining (including multiple, large, full-contouring CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers)
  • Manual, automatic and robotic welding processes, including electron beam, plasma and TIG welding capabilities processes to support capabilities in carbon, alloy, ferritic and austenitic stainless steels, aluminum, inconel and copper alloys
  • Solid-model CAD/CAM integrated with manufacturing
  • Expertise in high-strength, low-alloy steels, nickel-based materials and others
  • Specialized non-destructive examinations (RT, UT, MT/PT, Eddy Current) equipment for radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy current, magnetic particle, remote visual, dye penetrant and hydrostatic testing
  • Manual, semi-automatic and automatic inspection systems including non-contact capacitance, vision and laser systems
  • Stress relieving
  • Computer controlled furnaces for heat treating and annealing
  • Heavy lift cranes (up to 1,000 tons)

THE ABILITY TO DELIVER…

All BWXT NOG facilities offer heavy-haul truck and rail access. Our Mount Vernon location, which is strategically placed on the Ohio River, can also facilitate ocean-going barge transportation. (The facility’s dock features direct barge access via a crane with total lift capability of 1,000 tons - the largest on the Ohio River.)
