TerraPower

TerraPower’s Natrium technology is a first-of-its-kind advanced reactor, using liquid sodium as a coolant instead of water. The 345 MWe reactor is coupled with an integrated energy storage system that enables the plant to rapidly boost the system’s output to 500 MW if needed, allowing for a seamless integration with renewable energy and an overall increase in grid resiliency.

In a contract with TerraPower, we are designing the intermediate heat exchanger for the Natrium demonstration project in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Upon completion, the Natrium demonstration plant will be fully functioning commercial power plant. The intermediate heat exchanger is a critical component of the Natrium advanced reactor, serving as the primary transport system of heat from sodium in the primary heat transport system to the intermediate heat transport system.

Work will start with conceptual design, preliminary design and final detailed design activities of the intermediate heat exchanger, which will be performed by our team in Cambridge, Ontario.
