BWXT Names Jim J. Bittner Vice President and General Manager of Lynchburg, Virginia operations

15 March 2021

(LYNCHBURG, Va. – March 15, 2021) – BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) announced today that Jim J. Bittner has been named Vice President and General Manager of the BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. (BWXT NOG) manufacturing facility in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Bittner leads a workforce of approximately 2,200 employees in the manufacture of naval nuclear reactors for submarines and aircraft carriers, as well as fuel assemblies for research and test reactors. His new role follows a history of progressive leadership and promotion within the company over the last 32 years. Before moving to Lynchburg last year, where he most recently led the manufacturing facility’s operations department, he was the general manager of the BWXT NOG factory in Barberton, Ohio.

“I have known and worked with Jim for many years. His professionalism and dedication to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program are evident every day,” BWXT NOG President Joel W. Duling said. “Jim’s proven experience leading two of our largest locations positions him well to continue a legacy of more than six decades of excellence in Lynchburg.”

Bittner earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton.

He succeeds B. Joel Burch, who was recently named Vice President, BWXT Innovation Campus. In this role, Burch will oversee the strategy, planning and overall execution of the facility, which is located near the company’s existing Mount Athos Road facility in the Lynchburg area.
