BWXT Announces NASA Contract for Consolidated Facility and Maintenance Services

09 July 2015

(LYNCHBURG, VA – July 9, 2015) – BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:BWXT) is pleased to announce the Syncom Space Services LLC (S3) team, comprised of PAE Applied Technologies LLC and BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc., was selected by NASA for the Synergy Achieving Consolidated Operations & Maintenance (SACOM) contract. If all options are exercised, the maximum potential value for S3 is $1.2 billion.

The SACOM award is a consolidation of contracts at two NASA facilities – the Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Miss., and the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, La. – that will provide facility operations and maintenance services for institutional and technical facilities, and perform test and manufacturing support services.

“This is a significant opportunity for BWXT to lend our extensive manufacturing and technical expertise in support of NASA’s extraordinary facilities,” said Peyton S. (Sandy) Baker, President and Chief Executive Officer of BWXT. “We look forward to being an integral member of the S3 team in executing this contract. In addition to this being a good win for the company, developing business with other agencies outside of the DOE is a significant milestone for our company.”

The S3 contract includes a one-year base period that begins October 1.  An additional seven option periods are available, bringing the total possible contract length to nine years and five months.
