B&W Awarded Operations Contract For Pennsylvania Power Plant
The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE: BWC) announced today that its subsidiary Power Systems Operations, Inc. has been awarded a 10-year contract valued at more than $40 million to provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for Ebensburg Power Company's 50 megawatt power plant in Ebensburg, Pa.
Ebensburg Power Company is a joint venture between subsidiaries of B&W and ESI Energy, Inc. The co-generation plant burns waste coal from mining refuse piles to produce steam and electricity. Ebensburg Power Company also conducts reclamation operations at these former mining sites, restoring the land to a condition suitable for plant and wildlife habitat.
"Power Systems Operations has successfully operated this plant for the last two decades, a track record that has led to this 10-year extension," said Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc. President and Chief Operating Officer Richard L. Killion. "In addition to the Ebensberg facility, B&W provides safe, efficient and reliable operations and maintenance services for numerous coal, gas, waste-to-energy and biomass power generation and industrial facilities across the United States."
Power Systems Operations has provided O&M services at the plant since it began commercial operation in May 1991.
