B&W Awarded $37 Million Environmental Construction Contract

24 October 2011

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced today that Babcock & Wilcox Construction Co., Inc. (BWCC) has been awarded a contract valued at approximately $37 million to provide construction services for a baghouse installation project at Consumers Energy's J.H. Campbell Generating Complex, near West Olive, Mich.

In addition to performing construction, electrical and mechanical work, BWCC also will supply flues, insulation and structural steel for the 400 megawatt, coal-fired Campbell Unit 2's particulate emissions-filtering baghouse.

"BWCC is a leader in power plant construction and installation services," said BWCC President Pete Waanders. "We're focused on performing our work safely, on-time and within budget as we execute this project for Consumers Energy."

BWCC was previously awarded a contract to design and supply the plant's NOX-reducing selective catalytic reduction system (SCR). BWCC has begun work at the project site and is scheduled to tie in both the SCR and baghouse during a planned outage in March 2013.
