Each year, BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) commits significant financial support and other non-financial company resources to help make a difference in people’s lives. Our employees embody a genuine spirit of teamwork and philanthropy by volunteering in numerous local goodwill programs. BWXT’s corporate giving and community engagement initiatives are diverse and include:

  • Promoting educational excellence at the primary, secondary, and college/university levels through the Adopt-A-School literacy program and numerous outreach, mentoring, and scholarship activities. Programs include the BWXT Scholarship Program, the BWXT Internship/Co-Op Program, and grants to school districts, colleges, and universities. BWXT sponsors a variety of educational programs and scholarships including the employee dependent's scholarship program and the Central Virginia Governor's School (both its Foundation and its Industrial Advisory Board) and has a large college internship program at all sites.
  • Assisting nonprofit organizations focused on health and human services and the arts with donations and other support. Groups supported include performing arts organizations, local chapters of national organizations that conduct medical research, and United Way chapters in North America.
  • Bolstering the economic development of the regions where we operate through sponsorships and engagement through such organizations as chambers of commerce, economic development authorities, trade organizations and regional planning entities.
  • Supporting numerous agencies every year with donations of both money and time given by employee volunteers. Examples of recipients include the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Second the Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee and Big Brothers / Big Sisters.

Whether it is manufacturing high-consequence products, managing operations with no margin for error, providing innovative technologies and services, or using our financial and human resources to support the communities in which we operate, BWXT is committed to making a positive difference.

In 2017, we established BWXT Volunteer Strong to support and facilitate BWXT employee community volunteering activities.

We are dedicated to the long-term well-being of the facilities we own and operate, the communities in which we operate, and the environment that surrounds them.
