B&W Awarded Contract Extensions at Y-12 National Security Complex and Pantex Plant

01 October 2010

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced today that its subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc. (B&W TSG) received notification of contract extensions from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) for the management and operations of the Y-12 National Security Complex and Pantex Plant. B&W has managed both facilities for approximately 10 years.

The contracts at these facilities, which were set to expire September 30, 2010, have been extended through September 30, 2011, and include two additional three-month extension options.

"B&W is pleased to continue to provide management and operations services to these facilities and to serve the NNSA's national security needs," said B&W TSG President S. Robert Cochran. "Our operating groups have achieved excellent performance ratings at both the Pantex and Y-12 sites, and we are confident we can continue to provide this high level of service to NNSA in the future."

The Y-12 facility focuses on the production and refurbishment of weapons components, storage of nuclear material and prevention of the spread of weapons of mass destruction. The Pantex Plant is responsible for nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly, and maintaining the safety, security and reliability of the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile.
